Stripes give 'em the Mr. Miyagi Treatment

The Stripes came with sweep on the mind against the middling Kai last night at beautiful Shirley Park.

With rain pelting us, the Stripes were able to send all 10 men to the plate in what has become our trademark 1st inning rally, plating 6 runs, which would prove to be enough. Tommy"White Shoes" Meldrum anchored the defense with some fine plays on come-backers and kept the Kai on their heals at the plate all night. Andrew "mini-meldrum" Kessler's hot bat stayed that way driving in several runs with some nice ropes. Final score: 13-5.

In game 2, with the rain going away, the Kai's bats woke up and once again, the Stripes bats hit a mid-game slump, scoring only 1 run in the final 4 innings. Luckily that was the run that counted as the Stripes grinded out a tough win, 9-8.

Special mention to Joe, who once again bailed out the Stripes with his play in left field, keeping the Kai in check, and Tom's great pitching, no thanks to several un-earned runs the Stripes gave up. A tough 2 wins should keep us near the top of the standings.
